Mr Haz

Egelantiersstraat 24, 1015 PM Amsterdam

Sit back and enjoy a Mexican feast in one of the most authentic taco spots in Amsterdam. Here, they make all they taco shells fresh by hand, while every topping is prepared in-house slowly and steadily to ensure all the extra delicious flavours are kept. Not every taco topping is completely Mexican, as Mr Haz takes inspiration from flavours around the world. It’s not the biggest restaurant, so if you want a taste then you may need to book in advance, however the food, decor and cocktails make that little more effort well worthwhile.

Los Pilones

Kerkstraat 59/63, 1017 GC Amsterdam

Good service, tasty nachos and amazing margaritas? Sounds like our kind of place. Order the nachos to start with shrimp or beef tacos to follow and get a load of the flavour explosion that hits you during a meal at Los Pilones. Serving up tacos, huevos rancheros, enchiladas and quesadillas, along with spicy salsas straight from Mexico and over 200 types of Mexican tequila and mezcal behind the bar, you know you’re in for a fiesta. The place was started by 3 Mexican brothers who came to Amsterdam in 2001, they decided the city needed more authentic Mexican restaurants and so Los Pilones was born!

Coba

Schaafstraat 4, 1021 KE Amsterdam

Up in Amsterdam Noord, Coba Taqueria is packed with character from the second you walk in until you finish your meal. While all ingredients used are fresh, local and high quality, they keep the flavour combinations interesting by giving the menu a revamp every week. The tacos are all served on corn tortillas with salsa made fresh from the kitchen, and we love the unique toppings they use. Expect options on the menu such as Mexican oysters, beef tongue tacos or tacos de pulpo (octopus) as well as some delicious vegan flavour combinations. If you’re anywhere near adventurous with your food, then there’s no doubt that you’ll love it. Plus, the interiors are pretty cool and quirky, creating a great atmosphere every time you eat here.
