DAYS AT THE BEACH

One of the first things that might come to mind when you think of summer is the beach. Well, luckily there are also beaches near Amsterdam! So, if you’re getting tired of the city life and want to explore something else, a great alternative is to plan out a summer trip to beach. Amsterdam has its own city beach, Blijburg, which is easily accessed by public transport. Or you can also hop on a train to the popular beaches Bloemendaal aan Zee or Zandvoort aan Zee. Here you can find a vast beach where you can perform watersports or even chill out in one of the many cool beach clubs. Check out beach club Woodstock by night, they host some of the most epic parties on Sundays!

PARK VIBES

Amsterdam hosts many beautiful city parks that are known for being well kept. So, when the sun shines a lot of people head over to one of the parks for the perfect midday picnic. Just imagine yourself chilling in the grass with a glass of wine, some snacks and good music. Sound good, right? The cool thing about Amsterdam’s park culture is that barbecuing is allowed! Beware, it’s not allowed everywhere, check out this map to see where you can and cannot light up a barbecue. If you have decided which park to go to for some grilling, you just need to get all of the necessities and start your food party. Another tip is that you can get a disposable bbq at any supermarket during the summertime.

SUMMER FESTIVALS

Summertime equals festival season in Amsterdam! It’s the time to let your inner party animal out. The city hosts many music festivals, almost every weekend of the summer. Check out Loveland Festival, held on the weekend of August 11 in Sloterpark, Amsterdam. Here you’ll be enjoying some great music while being amongst beautiful nature. The festival organization has invited some of the best artists to take up one of the many stages, such as Carl Cox, Chris Liebing, Henrik Schwarz, Loco Dice, Speedy J and many more. Besides music festivals, there will also be delicious food festivals! At Rollende Keukens or TREK Food Festival you can try out some culinary dishes that will make your taste buds tingle!

EATING AND DRINKING ON A TERRACE

Terraces are almost part of Dutch culture. Whenever there is a little bit of sunshine, the terraces of Amsterdam’s bars and restaurants get filled immediately with people wanting to have a nice cold drink and a little snack while enjoying some vitamin D. Can’t blame them though, because nothing is nicer than having good food and amazing drinks under the sun. If you want to explore a cool place, check out Waterkant. They have an exotic menu and a great location: right by the water! Pllek is also a good place to chill out in the sun. It’s located in the north of Amsterdam, which is easily accessed with the free ferry from Central Station. Their menu is very unique and has a lot of vegetarian options. The cool thing about Pllek is that they have a huge terrace, with a little beach.
