Our Backpackers self service kitchen at the Downtown Hostel Amsterdam

Cooking for yourself is the cheapest way to go and so all of our Amsterdam Hostels have a fully equipped, self-service kitchen available for you to use – free of charge. The kitchen in our Downtown Hostel is down in the basement, it’s pretty big and there are enough pots and pans for you to cook up a gourmet meal with your new travel friends. Don’t worry about the groceries either because there are a couple of stores just around the corner.

Lots of guests have already used the kitchen before you so you can image that there are many left-over groceries. To make sure this doesn’t end up in the trash we have a special free food shelf in the kitchen. So if you’re lucky there might even be enough food left over for you to have a free dinner!

If you need cooking inspiration then you can always check out our Best Pig Recipes. On our forum we have a special spot where you can place all of your Pig recipes – created in the Pig kitchen – for the benefit of others. The best recipes will also be posted on our Pig blog because we’re about sharing the culinary love!

If you don’t feel like cooking you can pop down to Belushi’s on the Warmoestraat - just a few minutes away from the Downtown on foot. Belushi's in Amsterdam is famous for its burgers – also known as the best burgers in town! All Piggies get a discount at the Belushi’s restaurant, so be sure to bring your key card with you.
