'Around the World' Party Calendar Downtown
Flying Pig around the world trip 2006: 6th stop – CHINA
This month we celebrate China’s third largest festival, dragon boat racing. A spectacular event now celebrated around the world.
Dragon boat racing began as a way of paying homage to the God of Water so that the farmers would have good crops for the coming year. Falling on the fifth day of the fifth month in the Chinese lunar calendar, it was considered an unlucky day and offerings were often hung on front doors to bring luck, and ward off evil spirits.
Join us as we celebrate this most unusual festival at the Flying Pig Downtown, 31st May from 8 till late!
