Boarding in the NetherlandsOur country is as flat as a Dutch pancake, and that’s why everyone goes to Austria, France or Switzerland to get their annual dose of snow and après-ski fun. But of course most people want to get some practice before they go, and inventive as we are, that’s where the indoor board centers come in.
We even have the claim of fame to the world’s biggest indoor ski resort called Snow World, located in Landgraaf, which is in the south of the Netherlands.…yes, that’s not really close, but wait, there’s hope because there’s another one close to Amsterdam!
SnowPlanet is only a short ride on bus 82 from the Central train station, and we dare to say it’s not half bad to satisfy your craving for snow, and really the next best thing to a real snowy mountain! They’ve got a run of 100 meters, and a bigger one of 230 meters, ski-lifts, restaurants to fill up your tummy after a few hours of boarding, and even a nightclub to party afterwards. And don’t worry if you didn’t bring a snow board, as you can rent it cheaply right there on the spot.
We think SnowPlanet makes for a good day out on one of those typical Dutch rainy days, so head over there and make us a snow-man while you’re at it! (or a piggie)
PS If you’re staying at the Beach Hostel, there are 2 indoor slopes close by: ‘SnowWorld’ in Zoetermeer, and ‘De Uithof’ in The Hague; just ask reception to arrange it for you!
