Entertainment in the Vondelpark

Parks are great in summer, not doubt about that. In Amsterdam, the Vondelpark right next to the Flying Pig Uptown Hostel is really the one and only place to be when the sun’s out. Of course you can go skating or chill in the grass with a beer, but did you know the park actually has its own little open-air theatre with cool cultural things going on between Thursday and Sunday until the 19th of August? Even better….everything’s for free!

Now the program varies, but generally Thursday night is reserved for classical music. On Friday upcoming dance talent show their thing (not the DJ kind, but rather the performance kind!). The Saturday starts with shows for kids, followed by musical theatre, and finishing of with comedy. Sundays there’s music, and nothing but music. Beware that some things may be in Dutch though.

Weather you’re into these cultural things or not, head over to the Vondelpark to mingle with the locals and catch a performance or two. They have a great catering there too!
