The Flying Pig Hostels Amsterdam Terms and Conditions

House rules
  • We have a pretty laid-back atmosphere at the Flying Pigs hostel with smoking rooms next to the bars and cool shared dormitories. If you're young at heart - you're bound to enjoy what we offer. However to maintain our chilled atmosphere we do not allow:
    • Anyone under 18 year of age.
    • Stag parties.
    • Hen parties.
    • Sport tours.
    • Soccer fans in the city for international or national matches.
    • Large groups of men (more than 10 people).
    • Pets.
  • A booking for over 10 persons is considered a group booking and can not be booked over the web. To see if you can book a group you can send an email to or call the headoffice directly

Note: Read the above carefully because in the event of a false booking, there will be no check in nor will there be a refund!

Reservations in general
  • Reservations can only be made with a MasterCard or Visa credit card. Maximum stay is 7 days. Upon arrival you can pay with your credit card/ bankcard or cash
  • Arriving after reception hours: Opening hours of the Flying Pig Reception are 8:30-23:30. When you arrive after this time you will need to leave your passport as a deposit. You will get your passport back the next morning at reception when you officially check in (before 10:30!).
  • You will be charged for all bookings you make. Please make sure you book at the hostel of your choice (Downtown, Uptown or Beach) for the dates of your choice. If you prolong your stay at the first hostel you booked for, please make sure that you cancel the bookings at the other hostels. If you don't cancel at the other Flying Pig hostels, your credit card will be charged as a no-show
  • In case of a No-show, your credit card is charged for the 1st night of your stay, the rest of that booking will be canceled
  • We make every effort to accommodate you in the dormitory size of your choice. However, because of the nature of our business, we may have to place you in a different sized dormitory. As a result the balance to be paid upon arrival can be slightly different than what is stated on your confirmation
  • All nights of accommodation must be paid for on arrival or no later than 21:00 hrs. the day before
  • Our staff always does their best to keep every group together in the same room. Most of the time this works out, but keep in mind that we are a very busy hostel, so we can never guarantee anything.
Reservations by Internet
  • When you make a reservation on our secure server, your card is charged a 10% deposit online, which is nonrefundable. On the day of arrival we will check your credit card number. If the number is not valid for any reason, your reservation will have to be canceled
  • When you have made a reservation over the internet and you wish to extend your stay, you have to make a second, separate reservation for the extending date(s). If there is no online availability on the extended dates, it means that all our cyber beds are booked. You can than try to extend your stay when you arrive at the hostel of your booking
  • When there are no beds available in the same room for the requested date, click on “custom booking” bottom on the right. This will give you the option to book several room types in one reservation.
Reservations by phone
  • When you make a reservation by phone you always receive a confirmation number from our staff
  • Make sure you bring this number with you to the hostel that you booked with. Otherwise possible reservation confusion will be at your own responsibility
Reservations by e-mail
  • When you make a reservation by e-mail you always receive a confirmation number from our staff
  • If you do not receive a personal response from our headoffice this means your request booking has not been confirmed.
  • When making an online booking, credit card details are necessary to secure the booking. A 10% deposit will be charged in the card. This 10% deposit will not be refundable.
  • For cancelations up to 3 days before your arrival date you can use the information found on this page. After you have sent us the details explained on that page, you will receive a personal email from our headoffice that confirms your cancellation. If you do not receive this confirmation, your cancellation has not been processed
  • General cancellations have to be made at least 24 hours before your arrival date. You can do this on Monday to Friday by e-mail: Our office is open from 9am to 5pm.
  • Always send your name, reference number and reservation details with your cancellation request so the reservation can be found in the Flying Pig system
  • Your booking is cancelled when you receive a personal e-mail reply confirming your cancellation. If you do not receive this confirmation the cancellation is not processed
  • On Friday evenings, Saturday and Sunday you have to call the hostels directly. Write down the date and hour of cancelling and the name of the person you spoke to. On request an extra conformation of your cancellation can be send to you by email
  • When cancelling a booking the 10 % deposit is non refundable in any case. When you have paid the full amount of the booking online, 90% of the paid amount will be refunded
Note: Make sure you cancel all your bookings at the right hostels! If you do not do this, you will be charged as a no-show for all the remaining bookings.

Changes in existing bookings
  • For a change in your existing booking up to 3 days before your arrival date you can use the information found on this page. After this time you will need to send an email directly to our headoffice. You will than receive a personal email confirming the requested change. If you do not receive this confirmation, your change has not been processed
  • You can call the headoffice from Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm (local time)
  • During the weekends you will have to call the hostels directly. Flying Pig Downtown can be reached on 0031 (0)20 420 68 22 and the Flying Pig Uptown on 0031 (0)20 400 41 87. This is only possible between 8.30 am and 11.30pm (local time)
Confirmation of your booking
  • After making the reservation you will receive an e-mail with your booking details and confirmation number. Make sure you bring this confirmation with you to the hostel that you booked with; otherwise reservation confusion will be at your own responsibility
  • If you do not receive this confirmation from us you do not have a booking!
